Vermiculite
Retains water and nutrients in soil. Great for seed starting, potting mixes, and promoting steady plant growth.
Vermiculite is a mineral that expands when heated, forming absorbent, golden-brown flakes that hold water and nutrients exceptionally well. Unlike perlite, which is more about drainage, vermiculite excels at retaining moisture and feeding plants steadily over time.

It’s commonly used to improve soil mixes for seed germination, propagation, and potting, where consistent moisture is key. Vermiculite also improves cation exchange capacity (CEC), meaning it helps soil hold on to essential nutrients and make them available to plants.

This add-on is ideal for gardeners who want to reduce watering frequency, boost nutrient retention, and create a stable environment for young or delicate plants.
